798 people online here?

Post by rray » 02 Sep 2019, 13:39

I see 798 people online at the moment on this board. For sure this isn't real people.

All of them are coming from chinese manufactured phones (OPPO and Honor 8)

Is this some known bot network active at the moment?

Ow! Indeed. :-t

For now I've created bot entries for them and show them a new "blank" style. Be careful to not set it as your prefered style ;)

Not sure if it works though because they're still accessing the forum when looking at the active users view. At least they're not creating the impression of a super active forum anymore, who would want that? ;)

They're all coming from a Hong Kong based provider, I blocked it for now. I hope this isn't some strategic move by some party who wants sites to block other traffic from that region :-s

I've reactivated the provider because there seems to be no more bot flooding at the moment. If any one observe this is happening again, please leave a note here.

spoke to eary as soon as I deleted the bans, the bots came back.

I think so too. Trying again to unban the provider.

No bots anymore. hope it stays this way
-----
and they're back x_x
-----
phpbb couldn't deal with the bots very well, they still had access to a parts of the site in some way.
now they're blocked with htaccess so they don't show up in the guest list anymore and don't use any traffic

I have a couple of questions.
I have yet to be able to find the free version of 3delight, but upon doing further reading about missing shaders, I'm not sure it's worth the effort.

I haven't found the tutorial video to the Kristinka plugin. the original author seems to have vanished...

I think 3delight still might be useful...

I cannot find the Kristinka tutorial video either (yet), but this is the tutorial page from the original website:

Both items retrieved using the Wayback Machine, an indispensable tool for ancient knowledge...

When we already are around this, It just happened that owner (not me) of domain where this stuff was, decided to sell the domain. So this URL is not alive since spring, this year. Because the last update was in 2014, and traffic was close to zero in last two years or so, I decided to do not (negative) multiply this zero by some public announce. Of course I have complete crap at home, so anyone is free to ask via PM, here on forums (while yeah, no one asked in that way, too).
