softimage.tv - Hello World!

Post by cgcris » 04 Sep 2013, 14:17

Hi All,

Would like to announce the launch of http://softimage.tv created to showcase the best softimage work out there. It's meant to be mainly a video depository but hoping it will also function as a hub for the community.

The idea sparked from Andy Moorer's Nike Evolution write up on that Nike job, I thought amazing effort but how do we showcase it a bit more? The list and si-community are great place to discuss soft, but I think a lot users are not on it, not to mention producers, agencies and decision makers.

It is still early days so this is a work in progress, we will be adjusting the layout based on the predominant content we receive. This is where eveyone can help us a bit, If you ever created a tutorial for soft, uploaded a test, done an amazing tool, have a showreel to show off, finished a good looking job help us by submitting it.

You can directly submit your videos via very simple form in the website (Submit video). All you need to send is a title, vimeo/youtube url, and description. The wordpress will look after the thumbnails, then all we have to do is approve it. Ideally you will be logged in when submitting, so the system will put all videos under your profile.

The website was created by myself with the help of Cesar Saez . Would love to know what you guys think about it, and how we can move things foward.

Best,
Cris

Thanks everyone! The trick is to be logged in when submitting your own personal work or showreel.
That way the video relates to your profile.

Interesting. Looks good.
The first thing I’d do, however, Is to get some more members to your team. A team of two seems awfully small. In this day and age everything seems to be automated, until the proverbial sh*t hits the fan. As you both have day jobs a small addition to your team now might help you a lot at a later date.
;)

ps - and no, I am not volunteering :D

It's great! And I really like the Softimage icon you used. :D

Surely, just need to give it a bit of shape first ;)

I can't agree more with Hirazi. Having plenty of experience in this realm, you need a large group of people to maintain it. Also keep the custom plug-in use to a minimum to ensure you can upgrade wordpress with little to no issues to keep security and stability intact.

Good luck!

one note: it's not a "making off", it's "making-of".

there is no agreed way to make that plural, but two ways would be"Makings Of". or "Making-Of's", which looks terrible. or just use a completely other phrase ("behind the scenes") or add a noun, such as "making-of featurettes"

"making off" means running away

This looks great, just signed up.
Thanks to all responsible, this is the kind of site to direct producers and clients to when they get that glassy look in their eyes after I mention I use Softimage, not Maya.
