Parenting
Does anyone know the reasoning behind objects jumping to random places when parenting? Like when I select an object, click the Parent button, and then middle-click (what I want to be) its parent, the original object goes somewhere else. I've tried freezing transformations and setting neutral pose, but it seems like nothing works. I just ended up importing older versions of the same object, which don't have that problem. For some reason. And I don't want to constrain it. I thought parenting didn't look at the transformations of child and parent objects...
Re: Parenting
It happens if transform of future child object is animated (by function curves, expressions, mixer). If so, SI won't calculate compensation anymore. If you can, just put the parent at world origin before parenting.
It is possible to compensate later by changing the neutral pose, but you'll need inverse of parent's matrix in moment of parenting, that's not easy to get 1:1 by using SRT.
