Cubic Projection Asset like Softimage
Hello,
I'm happy to share with you an Houdini asset (updated version) largely inspired from Softimage ;;) :
Quick demo :
There are already many ways to project uvs in Houdini but not a simple cubic projection.
So I served myself as an exercise to better understand the logic of Houdini and understand how far we can go.

A nice improvement would to be able to use the handle while viewing a different node; or if you could integrate a toggle-able UV Quick Shade like preview.

Just a little bug report - your output needs to be 3f *not* 3fv. This important as the uv is translated by nodes such as the copy node when the type is 3fv.

I mean that I can't edit the projection handle while I'm looking at, for instance, a UV Quick Shade node underneath it. I assume you have a material assigned and are looking at that in the viewport. Pretty much any node that has handles can have the manipulatable while looking at another.

Here I can manipulate Handle while I am on the last node (uvedit1 here).-

Could you try again ?
And give me a step by step because I made a test on this version and it also work.
Is there a confusion on the select geometry request during the asset node creation ?
- if you are in primitives (faces) selection mode, this asset retrieves current selection, but if you have nothing selected, you need to select (or not) primitives and press enter to finish creation. Then press enter again to display handles manipulators.
- otherwise (non primitive selection mode), the asset is directly created and handles manipulators visible.
And give me a step by step because I made a test on this version and it also work.

I've updated the asset to 1.2 :
- bug correction : uv output is now 3 float instead of a float vector
- add a quick shade option

I've uploaded another version of uvCubic with a little upgrade :

v1.3 :
- add the possibility to set the name of UV (cf. "UV Name" parameter)
- quick preview also work if uv name is not "uv", ex : like "uv2" or "my_fantastic_uv"
- simplify creation of hda (no more need to click)
I just try to make houdini experience as "softer" as possible ;) !
