Can you give an example of the different types of rigs you are asking about?

Hi,
Thanks for replying. Basically we need two rigs in SI for a biped character. 1 rig is completed (which will be used for Mocap) however, it is not good enough for the animators to animate with and we are not able to make modifications to that rig (example: adding extra controls). This is why we were wondering if it is possible to create a second rig on the same character so the animators can add more controls to the 2nd rig.
Thank you!
Re: 2 rigs on character
Yes, you can just constrain your deformers to any number of rigs, and blend between them.
Re: 2 rigs on character
another option is to have 1 rig that is better for animators, can be upgraded as needed and good for mocap as well.
Both Species and GEAR works great for that unless it is some really special mocap that can;t be re-targeted?

Re: 2 rigs on character
I used to use two rigs. One is for deformation (actually most of XSI rigs use it), and one or more is for animation. Many cases IK and FK rigs are different, with a simple parameter their effect is blended. It sounds more complicated than it is actually
Usually constrains or expressions are driving the deformer, and these constrains weight or strength is interpolated depending on switching value.
