Softimage Garage | EZLight - Sycles settings sample scene

Hi!

introducing 'EZLight' sample scene for some EZ-setup, worry-free, while reasonably quick lighting/rendering.

Interior scene renders in ~15min /frame on an 980ti

Uses Sycles Denoising in Animation
( along with a desplotching process FXTree)

Sun and Sky color / intensity is driven by sun orientation (using ICE )

Uses no portal lights for further simplification,
so no need to manage/setup portal lights which can sometimes be tricky in more elaborate scenes,
or when not quite outside or inside,
but in this case also because I couln't get portal lights to work lol,
otherwise no doubt they would still be beneficial for simple scenes.

When the sun is down... the room is entirely lit by glowy materials on emissive surfaces

There are also instanced lights left hidden in the lights sources as an additional method.
(yes instanced lights work!)

'Cyc-Principled' compound

It also includes a general purpose compound::
- to reorganise both the default PPG UI and RenderTree port groupings,
- to include nodes that may be redundant, or to avoid preconverting,
- to ease some limitations with Sycles like OGL viewing of textures,

- and for the Viewport display color to show the Base Color value of each material,
instead of otherwise just having everything gray.

The color is also piped into the material's display ambient color
( for display only )

Parameter sections are hidden if they have no influence
( if the first main illumination parameter in a section has a value of 0 )
which can make it easier to at a glance see what *does* have influence on suface materials,
especially when sequencially inspecting/editing many materials.

To show parameters, tick any parameter group's checkmark,

and to <turn off> and hide related paramters in a group ,
re-set the first parameter in that param group from some value, back to 0.
( click anywhere on the slider and slide back to 0 )

The compound also includes notes about making Cycles compounds.

For animation, the Render samples is set to be used with the included 'Deblotching' FX tree
(using the Beauty and Normals aov's)

Otherwise to not involve any post-process,
you can take care of denoising blotches (only noticeable inter-frame)
by increasing the samples to around 1500 (about 3 times as long to render)

That's nice dissection material (my favortie way of learning, like a reverse tutorial)
