uv for strand?

Post by anhungxadieu » 31 Mar 2016, 03:51

Are there a way for me to create a uv for a strand itself not a mesh, i use strand and set a shape type to cylinder. Is it possible?

i got some thing work but not what i want, it's only work with Arnold and you need to add an Arnold parameter and set "Arnold curve parameters" into mode "ribbon", but i want it's set in mode "thick" ... :-s

While ago it worked, if gradient texture is used in Render Tree, 'gradient' from texture folder, not gradient mixer. Of course it was one dimension, only u, not uv. Saw a good number of renders, using this method. All that only when rendering with Mental Ray, other renderers had own solution or no any solution.
Other than that, don't see anything else than some way of deforming the 'real', already textured mesh along strands.

cool! now i know why gradient work thanks Mathaeus!
here is what i get so far, it's only work with Arnold and "ribbon" strand, it will look ugly when i deform strand too much .. :ymsmug: , generally, it should be ok and look best for me right now.
