Custom Param on ref model not saving after loading in preset

I have some custom parameters in a ref model.
when I load in presets for the parameters, the custom pset gets renamed to the name of the preset file I'm loading in, so when you save it, you're saving it with a name change. meaning, when you reopen it, the changes are lost because its a different name, and since its a ref model, you can't change the name of the pset back to the original name after it has changed.
does that make sense?
any way around this? the only way to deal with it is to manually input the changes for the parameters so the name stays the same. I tried renaming the preset I was loading in to match the name of the parameter set thinking it would stay the same, but it still gets renamed to OldPresetStream.

well this part of SI isn't very good... just don't rely on it if you can.
Maybe you can try by overriding with ice trees, then use presets
