softimage2015 - xray mode

so i'm trying out 2015.

x Ray mode does not seem to work at all.

I used to be able to click on x ray mode and select bones. now, it won't let me. I have to go into wireframe mode to select bones that are clearly illuminated due to xray mode.

I got given a fix for 2015 without the service pack, it's just adding a variable to the setenv.

C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Softimage 2015\Application\bin\setenv.bat

Append:

Code: Select all

set XSI_DISABLE_NEW_PICK=1

But they addressed this in the service pack.

It was initially disabled to address performance issues when it was on.
And as you say, it should be on in SP1 but with no performance issues.

thanks, I'll try the code...

but over all, I think I'll ditch the 2015 trial for now and go back to 2014 which just worked.

it's not like they redesigned this program from the ground up each time, it should have worked from the start. there are also a few object select problems as well.

I tried that download link, but for some reason it didn't update sotimage. it's s till the normal version.

They made a new optimized code path for selection of a large number of components, but they missed the special case of xray, which does multi-pass selection. It happens.
