Lagoa Sand !?

Post by hidalgo » 22 Jan 2014, 09:11

Hello,

does anybody have a preset or generally speaking settings to create sand with lagoa? i have made few tests, but i dont know what particular value could create the correct look of sand.
thank you for your support.

@Bullit first two places i have checked vimeo and youtube :D seems there is nothing on the subject in terms of tutorials, third place i checked google groups of exocortex, nothing there too..

@caledonian_tartan thanks i did pass on to it, but this resamble more of a basic template for creating sands, using basically the template from lagoa grain material

someone know how for example to have custom shapes particles in lagoa?

instance shape -> set data (self.shape) -> execute behind the lagoa compound.

thanks sant0s i am dumb, i tried that before, but for some reasons i couldnt plug the node into the right slot, now apparently i did something wrong in first place...
thanks again :)

btw how you randomize the size of the particles?

In Vimeo liked by Caldonian_Tartan you do have the compound and a scene in Amin website. What do you need more?

Amin compound its not covering real sand behaviour as i have said in my previous post, those settings are coming out of the box from lagoa already, what i searching is how to achive a more photorealistic look, the one for example you can see in Lagoa trailer, i talk about custom shapes, randomize positions, randomize scales, phase mixing between materials, something a bit more advanced then what you can get from Amin compound which is good, but only if your after a easy aproach to a more complex behaviour.

I would not call first scene as sand , but thabks for the examples. I don't understand why those scenes weren't released.

cause they show advance settings, the one you usually use in production, actually the one i need, therefore they keep them for themselfs..

did you realy try to receive something like that with the sand_v2 compound?
I just played a bit around and think, with' bit tweaking, some different shapes and nice shader, your done.
its not all out of the box and the sand compound just gives a starting point.
but yea, its sad that the sand_v2 compound is not open to edit deeper.

Well the "sand compound" its a tool, but its nothing more then the basic lagoa setup+lagoa granular node, but to reach a, so to say, advance look, you need to tweek parameters much more and customize the particle look and feel, i am trying to make some experiments and i am comparing houdini sand solver with Lagoa and quite frankly i still dont know which one is the best cause they both are really powerfull if managed from someone who knows how to play with them..
