Emit Strands though Object and Collide ?
Re: Emit Strands though Object and Collide ?
Duh that was my fault for not posting the updated tree. Sorry I'm ahead of my posts
Re: Emit Strands though Object and Collide ?
?this is because you take the particle emission position and you set the particle position... so your particles are stuck...
Re: Emit Strands though Object and Collide ?
in your ice tree, the last branch, you read the particle emit location and you set the particle position, so your particles just don't movesFalam wrote:... could someone tell me why my particles stay stuck to the polygon cluster on the cube and don't emit as particles...NNois wrote:this is because you take the particle emission position and you set the particle position... so your particles are stuck...
Re: Emit Strands though Object and Collide ?
Yes it doesn't make sense that last part.

Re: Emit Strands though Object and Collide ?
What part doesn't make sense? You feed the emit position (which always stays the same, it is fixed at the time of emission) into the point position. Therefore the point position always stays the same. Or am I missing something here?
Stay safe, sane & healthy!
Re: Emit Strands though Object and Collide ?
I understand that I'm emitting the point location, and therefore the particles are locked into position, what I don't understand is how to 'unlock' them from there locked position ?
Modifying any of the settings in the emit particles PPG isn't have an effect on the particle not being stuck to the object.

This is the last message for me here...
Please force you to re-read your messages, what's the function of theses nodes ???

Re: Emit Strands though Object and Collide ?
If the ICE tree is on the point cloud, and the point cloud is emitting particles and I want the particles to collide with a MeshC, how come I can't set MeshC in the Basic collide (obstacle port) compound without the branch (which is not connected) from firing me an error ?
Re: Emit Strands though Object and Collide ?
last try... read your ice tree... hint: the obstacle...
Re: Emit Strands though Object and Collide ?
I already tried plugging in the object that the particles are suppose to collide with, the basic collide branch fires back with an error ?
Re: Emit Strands though Object and Collide ?
And this is to demonstrate what I said in the previous post.
Last try, it's not a game show !

Right click the red Get Data node and click Show Messages.
Re: Emit Strands though Object and Collide ?
It can't get from Prev.Frame. I plugged in the Prev.Frame node into movement etc within the basic collide node, the branch continues to evaluate with errorsxsisupport wrote:Right click the red Get Data node and click Show Messages.

Re: Emit Strands though Object and Collide ?
Your ICE tree is not in the Simulation region.
And the fact that your Get Data node is red suggests to me that you are getting a scene reference to a point cloud. That won't work with the Collide node (according to the docs).
Also, plugging locations into a Get .NbPoints doesn't quite make sense to me.

My ICE Tree is in the simulation stack ?

Ignore that branch, at this point it doesn't have a purpose. Also, plugging locations into a Get .NbPoints doesn't quite make sense to me.
