Why would you need ICE for that? Just put a gobo on a spotlight and rotate it.

can you be more specific ?
making this effect in "ICE" says nothings relevant for me.

Are you speaking about making a procedural animation ? like an animation with no keyframe, controled with ICE ?
If so you have at least two ways. The first is controling with ICE the global kinematics of each stripes if they can be separated OR controling the UVs of the stripes to drive some textures layers on your material.

Let us know more precisely what you want ;-)

This is done by using textures on a spot light and animating this light (rotate it in this case).

Hello Guys,

thanks soo mutch for your support.

ace63: sorry what is a gobo ?

NNois: i want to learn more ice, i come frome the max area and xsi and ice is oustanding.
i want to create in ice an effect like many stripes rotate arround and have different times when he start to rotate like in this video.

Helli: greetings also frome germany :) how i must connect my texture ? on the color channel ?

greetings, Contac

Hi,
For connection a texture on a spotlight, just look at the docs, it's all there ;-)

About controlling animations in ice it's all about modulating the "time" node.
The basis would be creating a null or a pointcloud where in there you control the all your "spotlight.kine.global" and modulate it by the time, for start look at the compound "modulate by time". Then you can introduce some variations with some randomize or turbulize nodes.
You can look at vimeo one guy recently had introduced some great video about ice kinematics.

Hey Bullit, you are here ? haha awesome :)

NNois: i want to rotate the stripes as polygones with different time starts.

Helli: Yes i forgott the good old manual :D

My idea would be:

Model your partial rings as seperate objects.
Create an ice tree on a null ("Rig") that will drive all the objects. Nodes coming to mind are Current Frame, Modulo (to loop it), Axis and Angle to Rotation, Add/Multiply, maybe Multiply Vector by Matrix. Rotate vector -> srt to matrix -> set data ("self.object1_SRT"). Create other set datas for your other objects. You can vary the rotation speed by distance to the center of the rings for instance.

On your objects, you need to create simulated ice trees. For instance, Get Data (Rig.object1_SRT) -> set data (self.kine.global) -> Ice Tree.

Learning 4x4 matrix helps alot with ICE Kinematics. I'd first recommend learning how to "parent" objects in ICE. Local vs global kinematics.
