After Effect exporting

Post by Diurno » 26 Jan 2010, 14:49

Hi all, i've a problem: i've done a video in Xsi and then i've imported the TGA sequenze in after effect to make the editing, but when i go to Export, my video is really washed.... i've tried many format, and for now the best is Quick Time Video with Mpeg4 compression, but it's still too differente from the original.... Do you have any suggestion to preserve the color fidelity????

sorry if this section is wrong but i dunno where to post it...

h264 do a very good job, try it ! (don't forget to set the bitrate enough high like 2000-3000 kpbs for a 720p animation) and by the way I tend to use .pic softimage format for embeding in after effect, this reduce the hard disk transfert volume

i've tried with H264, but After Effect says:

After Effect: AEGP Plugin Media IO Plugin:
There is a mismatch between Output Module settings and Transcode Settings.
Please verify your settings and try again.
Invalid framesize/framerate for this level. Please lower the Frame Dimension, Frame Rate or increase the profile and level and try again.
MediaIO2 error: 0xc00b0002
Frame dimensions out of bound

(5027 :: 12 )

i dunno what it means....

EDIT: i fixed the error, but i've the same problem.... the image is too light...

It's a known bug with QT video. It 'compensates' within the gamma settings, ending up washed out on a PC.
There are tools on the web that deal with this.

or you just fake it and try to darken the video before exporting ;)

Not of the top of my head, but running a Interweb search on 'gamma problems with exported QT on PC' will probably get you in the right direction.

I assume Rork means something like the Quicktime Gamma Stripper ;)

yes, it's a player problem and not an encoding problem

tried.... i don't think it's a player problem, for these reason:

-this Gamma Stripper, when i drag the file into it says "Found no gamma tag"

- if i export the file with quick time pro on a mac instead of a pc, the file looks great....

-with Vlc i've the same problem...

SOLVED: :D

solution:

-open the movie with quick time

-go to window -> movie property

-highlight the video track and go to view settings

-under Transparency choose Alpha Straight

-close and save :D
