32 bit displacement getting lots of spikes?

Post by mypeople » 27 Jul 2009, 08:59

i got my displacement map from zbrush and when i render, i get all these spikes or fatness to the points on this model? anyone know how i can fix this? if not i think the only way i can is by MANUALLY painting this all out in mudbox or something.

how you connected the Displacement map in the Material? i know there a quite annoying to set up rightly the map cause there must be a gooood tweak with the Change-Value node.

Unless you tell us what you did, it's hard to tell what you didn't do. Did you make the shader tree manually, or input the displacement map in the OBJ import dialog? Did you modify the geometry approximation properites? What are the upper and lower values of your displacement range?

Are you using the old Mudbox or the 2009 one? The displacement maps made by the old one will not show in XSI very accurately no matter what you do.
