I am currently looking for detailed reference images of the different parts that make up the human face (you know the drill: mouth, nose, eyes, ears). These wouldn’t be used in any rotoscoping way for modeling directly, but as guidelines for what really is going on there prior to the modeling itself. Details and in case of the nose for instance at least several angles would be needed. Does anyone perhaps know of a preferably free, but possibly very cheap resource for this? Thanks in advance.

Well I suppose it has to be said. There must be literally hundreds of images of faces on the internet. Thats what I tend to use when looking for things like this.

Why do I even bother asking questions here at all?
Ever heard of the concept of "narrowing down" a search?

I think 3dsk is still a popular resource. They are offering some photos for free.
Very personally, I'm more focused on complete 3d models or scans, also commercial, for price that fits into my small budget - really good 3d model is, really good 3d model. Also, there's always a sort of stylization at the end, typical for particular media. Even zBrushers on zB forums, seems to have the unwritten, specific 'rules' of 'correct' body and and face.
Last one I got is Blenderella - a bit simplified, but very good tut, having all related files.

A few that come to mind:
Reference Sites

Obviously all references will depend on how far you want to push it, how close you will see the model in the scene and for what purpose (animation, medical imagery, research and development, photo realistic modeling, etc.)
And don't forget the always free resource .... your own face.

Re: Reference the face?
Haven't found anything free yet that covers multiple angles of the same model. One good thing about faces is that you have two sides that are more or less the same, so in each image you DO have two angles of the same subject.
Halves will more or less covered obvioulsy what would work best probably is a 45 degree view.
Maybe with a mirrored version of the same picture you could even set it up with two cameras for modeling similar to font/side view.
