NextGen movie - all Blender?

Post by Rork » 30 Aug 2018, 10:34

Did someone see the trailer yet for the NetFlix CG movie?

Apparently done at Tangent Animation: http://www.tangent-animation.ca/, and was all done in Blender?
If so, that quite impressive.

Yes, this has been done 100% within Blender. I saw it go viral in the social networks due to that fact alone.

So... free advertising for a free 3D app ;)

Impressive work, would love to see their workflows and in-house tools.

It seems there are some precise answers on Blender artists thread . Honestly I have mixed feelings here, personally I wouldn't be happy (politely to say) to animate in Blender instead of Maya, even when considering in house additions. Maya is just a way stronger app. While use of open source renderer and else, could be a significant saving for investors. We'll see where this is going...

AD: "Greed is good..." ;P

Mathaeus: Thanks for the link! I haven't tried anything major in Blender yet, so I have no clue about animating in Blender. In Maya it's well thought out by now, with a lot of tools for moving data around. That's one of the reasons it's used everywhere.
