Momentum & ImplosiaFX for free

Post by Hirazi Blue » 26 May 2016, 17:27

From the Mailing List by Oleg Bliznuk:
Hi all,

Since the EOL of Softmage I'd like to open free access to Momentum and
ImplosiaFX plugins. You can grab it here :
ImplosiaFX
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B47NI ... zUxU3hGZ2c

Momentum
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B47NI ... m1hdW9mLTg

These links include builds both for win and linux 64bits + documentation
and sample scenes.
It was a lot of fun to make tools and various tech stuff in ICE, thanks all
for the great experience, especially for the ice vimeo channel folks :-) .
Hopefully those plugins still can be usefull.

best regards,
Oleg

Great and sad to hear at the same time, you guys deserve respect for what you did for the community along with all the others. IMHO there is no other community out there as helpful and generous as SI community \m/

can this version of momentum be used (it would be great if someone could confirm it), from the mailing list (and from what i remember about the beta) the plotting was removed in favor of alembic, and I am not sure it is functional.

From what I saw on the mailing list, the plotting was removed in favor of Crate (also free from Exocortex) which is an Alembic system.
Fabricio Chamon:
if I can recall, plotting was a feature pre-alembic. It got discontinued once alembic took place.

Now there we have a killer combo: implosia + momentum + crate (easy retime tools), all for free. I bet this is far better than MANY paid comercial plugins out there... =)

Quoting Oleg once more...
Thanks for kind words guys, but i have to note that i am personally responsible for implosiafx only, all credits regarding momentum should go to Helge as he and Ben agreed to share it.

I find some oddities with the Crate plugin when exporting Momentum scenes. Sometimes the Alembic export doesn't work and messes up the Momentum scene as well.
Stuff goes all over the place all of a sudden, and doesn't reload properly when reset.

Softbodies and basic things seem to work, but stuff with fractures and/or dynamics only export properly from frame two and further.
And only if in SI the timeline is set to frame 2?

Do people see the same thing??

Other than that Crate should have been added to Softimage, it helps moving animation around between apps more easily. It's a hell of a lot easier than FBX :)
