Hey guys,
I'm a complete noob when it comes to rigging and am trying to set up a custom rig for a robot arm. Now this is all a bit fiddly using just the standard bones (plus sometimes it goes crazy and flips around in ways i don't understand...) but having used Species i would like to know how to build a "simple" rig that has nulls and controllers "Species-style" (i cant even figure how to setup a custom null... )
I'm willing to pay if the tutorial is good!
Good rigging tutorials?

Re: Good rigging tutorials?
There are some (older) commercial training sets available:
3DQuakers: RIGGINGPRO for Softimage
Digital Tutors: Introduction to Rigging in XSI
3DMastermind: Character in Motion
I haven't tried any of them, so you're on your own there...
But don't forget the videos from AceMastermind's Softimage 7.x Certified Training on YouTube thread,
under "Skeleton Rigging Character Setup", as they are high-quality and free.

Yeah i know what you mean about DT, i don't have enough faith in their output to warrant paying for a sub - now why is that such a familiar feeling? ;)
They all seem good, i'll try the free stuff first as it seems very comprehensive - thanks!

I learned a lot from 3dQuakers and use some of the methodologies from it in the Species system. That's really the only Softimage rigging series I'd recommend honestly.

Re: Good rigging tutorials?
Hmm funny, that's the one that was the least appealling to me... mostly because it's 80 bucks for ~4 hours and the 3DMastermind one is 30 for 11 hours... But qualtiy is what's important, when i was learning modelling in SI i watched hours of tutorials but i learned the most from watching Vitaly Bulgarov model for 20 mins ;)
So i shall again listen to a Master this time! (but maybe get the 3DMastermind one as well )
