Maxon Cinema4D R8 c/w XL Bundle (still running 8.5 on an old Window 7 machine), my favorite after Softimage XSI. I liked the Cinema 4D workflow, it was easy to learn and to get good results. This version is before they split the program in different packages. Maxon was selling C4D with "modules" in those days. The modules I had included thinking particles, pyrocluster, dynamics, MOCCA and Advance Render. Sketch and Toons, Mograph and Hair came later on.

Some of the many CDs that I bought from Digital Tutors (now Pluralsight) before they went subscription only.

Cinema 4D Prime could probably be considered the best entry-level commercial software on a (slightly higher) "budget"... ;)
Sadly Maxon doesn't offer "competitive sidegrades" for Softimage anymore...
(For Cinema 4D it isn't listed anymore. Strangely for Bodypaint 3D it still is)
But - to their credit (IMHO) - they still appear to sell "permanent licenses". :-bd

Softimage is currently listed on th US website .. I guess if you live in North America, you are in luck.

https://www.maxonshop.com/us/gp/Qualifi ... egrades/1/

You could also argue that if you own the AD Entertainment collection that included Softimage, you would be illegible via those crossgrade.

By some of last posts, it seems that age of our 'novice' is more than 40 years or so... :( . Few years ago I had a chance to talk with full room of modeling - texturing artists, perhaps all of them younger than 25, nobody even knew for BodyPaint 3d. I'm really surprised that they are still selling this thing alone.

In North America, if you buy BodyPaint3D standalone, it include all the features of Cinema 4D Prime (basically you are buying Prime + sculpting/painting environment) ... and at the same price too. Thanks Maxon!

If you want prime, Buy BodyPaint 3D, its a better deal in North America at the moment.

It's weird... In the US Maxonshop Prime and Bodypaint 3D cost the same, but in the German Maxonshop Prime costs 833€ while BP3D costs 952€
In the past Prime and BP3D indeed featured the same toolset IIRC, but this has apparently changed...
On their comparison page one can see that BP3D apparently features a full sculpting toolset missing from C4D Prime... :-?

I loved trueSpace. I bought 5.5, 6.6 then modded 7.61 beta 8 and then it got 4 patches. Some peeps still use it today.

There still is no 3D space manipulating in 3D space like Truespace.... my first love.

Ah yes, Truespace... I owned a copy of that software as well in the "dark days" before "3Democracy"... :p
