Edge ShadingAuthor: Reinhard Claus
A render tree compound that renders worn/chipped off/colored/funny edges. Mental Ray only. But built from only a few factory nodes, so it should should be fairly easy to reproduce this in other renderers.

Letters in thumbnail rendered by plugging node's color output into a phong diffuse port, and into a bump map node at the same time. Let me know if you have issues/ideas about this shader.

I'm really liking this, wish I had it 10 years ago! Very useful.

Thanks for your feedback ActionArt

Btw just noticed there's a missing connection inside the compound when using ambient occlusion mode:

It should go from "Maximum1" to the max_distance port of the "ambient_occlusion" at the top

This caused inner corners not to get textured properly

I´m using softimage 2012. I don´t get the effect when I connect it to the difuse input of a phong shader. I would like to get the black line. I used the color black but no results.
