QMenuAuthor: Stefan Kubicek
(new version, updated Aug 12th) QMenu is a custom quad-menu system for Softimage similar to 3dsMax's quad menu system. It's main purpose is to speed up frequently used operations by bringing frequently used functions and commands closer to the mouse. It can be configured in a user friendly way by most users (that is: through clicking only) and is yet still extendable through scripting by those who need the additional level of flexibility beyond the usual 3dsMax quad menu functionality. In fact, many aspects of QMenu are script based so that it's easily extendable and customisable without having to change the actual plugin source code.

Not that I know of, but this looks pretty sweet!

I never liked Maya's menu system, and felt more towards a solution like Max's would do better (yes... I know.... :ymblushing:

This seems very powerful and still is very customizable, so everyone can create his/hers own menu.
The setting files are easily swapped, so you can even share your menu's.
And it seems you can even incorporated custom menus and commands. :)

Thanks for the tip, I'll definitely will look into this one. :-bd

I have to say, this is one of the most useful additions to my workflow in a long while. Was always torn whether to assign tools to hotkeys and struggle to cover whole keyboard with one hand or to use menus while trying to clear up space for the viewport. This is the best solution possible.

I did find that in a context of property editing sometimes menus act a bit weird - like if you for example select xyz transforms, values do not apply. Cant figure out why.

But, the impressive flexibility of the plugin blew my mind. Thank you

I have problem with QPop.32.dll, it can not be loaded so Softimage log this:
// ERROR : QMenu: QMenu Preferences not found! If you just installed the QMenu addon you need to restart Softimage.

I use SI 2012.SAP x64

You can delete that file. It doesnt do anything on your 64bit setup.

I did it, but same problem :(
It looks that there is problem with creating custom preferences, maybe in application preferences. I had similar problem with another plugin. Reset all SI preferences (delete folder) had not effect.

I would suggest contacting the author for the quick/accurate resolution.

That said, have you tried reinstalling the plugin? Just deleting user prefs wouldnt do much in this case.

You can navigate to user\autodesk\softimage\Addons\keyvisQMenu\Data\Preferences and check if there's a file called QMenu.Preset
This is the file responsible for custom preferences.

Also, is this the first time you are installing QMenu? Its known to have issues if the older version left some traces behind...
