Here is a wave curl compound Werner Ziemerink created.
It uses Nuls to create the waves. The nulls can be scaled to stretch the wave out or bulge them into more toon-like waves. I put a scene together, and left the compound open for people to explore. Take not that the ICE tree should be under post-simulation.

If Werner's rig could be refined and controlled in the same way that Florian uses his rig in XSI which he combines with Tessendorf..

Florian's amazing waves rig in XSI here: http://www.florianwitzel.com/com/milk/
[the Rigging the Waves making of on the right]

then oceans would become a snap in Softimage...
is anyone up to the task??

I've tested my Wave Curl Compound together withAmaan Akram's Tessendorf wave generator, and it works as expected.

You are right Dof. It would be great if people could build on top of this and see if they can incorporate some of the cool features seen in the Milk videos. My ICE knowledge is very limited, so any help would be awesome.

If you ad anything, post the file up here so that other people can have fun with it as well.
