How to send external commands into Softimage
How to send external commands into Softimage
Does anyone know how to run a script by sending a command to a running xsi from an outside program ?
Ive looked into the command line tool but that starts up xsibatch which I believe is a GUIless xsi (Ive never used it).
I just want to know how to send a command to a running instance of xsi or if there isnt one running to start one up and then fire a command to run a script.
thanks in advance

i think sIBL for Softimage does that with the TCP server...
(also, it seems they removed the XSI loader. maybe it's still on RRay)

you're welcome. i think there is also an example of a TCP server in the default XSI_EXAMPLES Location.

that tcp sample in the sdk workgroup should be good, it was written by my SDK colleague here, long after that blog I think. Seem to be in c# though!

Yeah we use that here too, to send commands to XSI from Shotgun in the browser. Works well.
