Re: Petition for opensourcing The Mod Tool ?
I'd like to see that happen but chances are too slim to even wish for it. The first question is that why would Autodesk need to release Mod Tool open source since they already left their competitor out of business and Mod tool is way too powerful. With community support, it might become a serious co...

Re: Cycles for Softimage
It seems Sycles does not count user normals when rendering a mesh or am I missing something?

They are beyond amazing, to be honest, never saw them crash XSI after doing so many hard-boiled boolean operations

Re: UV Packer for Softimage
I tested Uv packer for Blender a while ago and found it awesome, one of the best solutions for UV packing out there. Now it works in Softimage, thanks a lot

Unfortunately yes, there is no easy solution in Softimage. Do you guys know any equivalent in Blender?

Re: Enhance_XSI on Softimage 2015?
I was using this in Cinema 4D years ago, on c4d 8.5 I guess. I even forgot its existence until you mention it :) There was also another shader authorisation tool called Dark Tree which was used by the games of that era like Doom 3, icewind dale 2... Good old times. Wish I had an XSI licence for this...

Nice, compared to Maxon, Autodesk seems to suspend the development of Maya and Max.

Re: Affinity Photo?
I've been using it for a long time. It is a great companion to PS but if your work requires collaboration, PSD is your best option, and Affinity's PSD export option is limited. It works pretty well with non-complex PSD files but I wouldn't depend on it for pro work. Layer effects can be exported as ...

Re: Softimage Dark skin early WIP
I wish there were something like Nirsoft Resources recompiler :D With the Extractor app one can extract every GUI image out from the xsi.exe but how to put it back I also have no clue. https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/resources_extract.html Edit: Might this be the way? https://www.gdgsoft.com/gconvert/...

Re: PBR realtime shader?
I also really appreciate it if such a shader exists but unfortunately, as far as I know, there is no such shader available. You may try using Sycles (Cycles) render engine for rendering PBR stuff in Softimage, it has a PBR supported shader AFAIK.
