Re: Umm I think we meant why doesn't SI have its OWN!
If I follow the logic properly, then within few years, Softimage has enough seats around, and rule the world! :) Seriously, actually since Soft loose a great market share in the Softimage 3d->XSI conversion, it is very hard to get in business again. It may be a good movement to bundle it. If a studi...

Re: Softimage 2010 Rendering
Lot of things changed since 6.5. Rerendering of scenes made in 6.5 is not a viable option. I suggest you to set up your rendering from the scratch. By the way, are you using 32 bit system? Adjusting MR memory at the optimisation panel of Render options may help resolving memory issues.

Re: Old skin (NO SSS)???
For skin the best is still to use the ez_fast_skin_d shader. And there are some really good explanatory webpage on mymentalray.com featuring each aspects of the shader. The main importance of the shader is that it not just a huge mixer compound, but it blurs your shading according to the radii you s...

Re: Old skin (NO SSS)???
why do you exactly avoid fast skin? You could drive some incandescence with incidence node (based on Camera and light incidence). I'm afraid that those were one-lighting-setup solutions, as they worked in a given light setup. If that changed you had to restart the shading tree. I suggest you to dig ...
