Re: Announcing Redshift - Biased GPU Renderer
I've done quite a bit with it, just industrial type stuff but high poly counts and difficult lighting. I'd say it's more stable than MR so yes, why not use it. If you do run into any problems, they usually fix it in days (instead of years). It's incredible. Their licensing and beta plans are all on ...
Re: TR Preset
Nice! I just have to say the TR Merge is one of the most useful things I've ever added to SI. Great stuff!

Re: NURBS improvements petition
I've recently had a change of day jobs and am using Autodesk Inventor a fair bit (just started a couple weeks ago). I have to say, I really wish some of those modeling tools were in SI. I'm quite impressed. Since AD owns both companies you would think there were be more technology crossing floors. A...

Re: OT - Avid DS reach the End of Line (EOL)
Very true. I was always so disappointing in Avid not learning from the tools they purchased. They had SI and DS and still learned nothing from them when it came to MC. MC could have benefited so much from how SI/DS interfaces and tools worked but they did nothing with them. MC's interface still anno...

Re: OT - Avid DS reach the End of Line (EOL)
Avid itself might be laid to rest pretty soon judging by their stock trend and overall lack of real development. One stupid decision after another it seems...

Re: Snap to Plane
That is a very cool function, something I've been looking for a long time. This is something that really should be part of the stock toolset.
I'll have to give that a try! Thanks for posting.

Re: Which GPU Render can I use now with XSI animation?
We've got a dedicated thread called Announcing Redshift - Biased GPU Renderer , in which you can read a lot of opinions about it already. Personally I however am starting to think everyone who joins their alpha must agree to praise the software excessively wherever possible. But that's a joke, BTW....

Re: Multiple objects to one texture projection?
You can also apply a projection to one object, then select the next object and go to property>texture projection>connect to projection and then pick the projection of the first object. It's covered in the manual.
Hope that helps.

I believe MoI had a solutions (script I think) for this. You might want to check with Michael on the forum (http://www.moi3d.com).

Re: Arch-viz addons for Softimage?
Eugen, that's a pretty precise post on what the issue is. It should probably be send right to Chis Chia if it hasn't been already. Maybe if it's laid out very clearly like that it would get some attention.
Edit: nevermind, I just did ;)

Re: Arch-viz addons for Softimage?
Dude! (as in Luceric). I think you might have missed the point altogether. I think what Dan was trying to do is come up with ideas for an INTEGRATED solution. Sure, we already have MoI and a many other curve modelers which are fantastic and they export whatever you want. The problem (at least for us...
