Re: And for the UNBELIEVABLE news..
It's appreciated. I think the hardcore XSI community tends to lurk more because, well, we're all working hard. That's the up side of a small experienced user base in a time where more studios are needing talent - almost every experienced XSI'er I know has more work than they can handle, even given t...

Re: emPolygonizer - metaballs for SOFTIMAGE
I see that it's released, congrats Eric! I'm going to be interested putting this thru some tests! My first interest is in caching and freezing results, second would be in how it can work in a production pipeline - can I get meaningful motion vectors for blurring etc. Any way you look at you've achie...

Re: Particle point/Spawn Trail uniformity
When using the 'spawn trail' compound, low rates will cause a stuttering effect like I see in your image sequence. Do you want a single particle emitted each frame? I'm unsure what you mean by uniform emission... I am guessing that what you want is something like this... for every frame, there is a ...

Re: Stopping Particles
This is also the kind of thing states are good for. You have two states here - falling and stuck to surface. Think of states as separate "ice nodes" you can switch between... in one state, the leaf sim executes every frame, and when a collision with your surface is detected (a conditional ...

Re: spawn from instances surface and not from particles centers
Spawn from the surface of instances? Spawning from the surface of an instance is a 'non-trivial' problem. Although it should be possible it won't be easy, and would involve a pretty sophisticated approach. I have the need for this myself, but I just don't have a few days to tackle it. In general I w...

Re: Random Rotation Speed
Hi, I hope someone can help me here. How can I give a random rotation speed to a group of particles? I tried Spin Particles node but it gives me the same speed to all particles. Tks What I do is on particle creation write a custom attribute for spin axis and spin rate, which I then feed into the sp...
