Re: si-community wishlist
it's so weird, I can only login now from Chrome in "incognito" mode, otherwise it fails to log in. I even tried to reset password with an email and it fails with "invalid entry". I guess something must have changed with cookies or something.

Re: OBJ+STL import export
it was probably meant to be bExportBinary = (GetValue("preferences.File Format Options.STL_Format") == 0);
which, if that's correct, would be the oposite of your fix

Re: Can't open scenes
Softimage needs full privilege read/write to its files and folders and Windows is preventing any apps to change files and folders for security reason. I learn the hard way as well and had to setup the Softimage shortcut icon to launch Softimage in administrator mode. no it doesn't. but XSI Mod Tool...

Re: Where can i download old Soft|3D plugins?
ok but what plugin are you looking for? Phoenix Tools mostly made rendering, simulation and particle plugins. They made one sub d plugin for Si3D, Metamesh Extreme. It's not useful to you because you have subd already in XSI, and you could export that back into SI3D with .obj. A few phoenix things l...

Re: Where can i download old Soft|3D plugins?
I think I have a DVD of metamesh somewhere, but it might be irix only, and these old plugins are generally unusable due to licensing or platform incompatibilities.

Re: Exit and disable Supra and Sticky mode
Supra is needing to hold down a key while using a tool.
Sticky Keys when you press and release the key and the tool "sticks", i.e. continues to be active.
You can customize Sticky keys in the General/Interaction user preferences.

Re: Bifrost Beta
I don't even understand the need to compile the graph, just-in-time or not, I thought a node should be a precompiled unit like for example a function. That it would be one of the points of having nodes. Still having to check out LLVM, it sounds really interesting, maybe it already optimizes things ...

Re: Autodesk won't License both 'Maya with Softimage'
Why is this thread still going on? What is the problem? Is it that you're looking to download Softimage or what else? The Maya with Softimage 2017 license will allow to run Maya 2017 and Sofimage 2015 SP2 . Softimage 2015 is programmed to look for any license of "Maya with Softimage 2015" ...

Re: Bifrost Beta
I have not used MCG, although I spoke a few times with the author. It's my understanding that it generates a maxscript plugin, and then installs or reloads it then you make some types of changes, and some part of the workflow aren't truly interactive because of that implementation. Bifrost doesn't w...

Re: Bifrost Beta
no, no, you connect the graph and change values, and in the background it's running a just-in-time compiler in a separate thread to compile and update the graph. Just like a GPU shader graph that generates code and compiles it.

Re: Bifrost Beta
I'm not sure if I see much resemblance between ICE and Bifrost. ICE is really about the Softimage underneath; accessing point collections, point locators, mesh attributes. It exposes the Softimage architecture. Then you could theoretically get more advanced nodes that do complex things.t. Bifrost is...

Re: Raytraced based viewports coming?
Isn't that like saying Softimage had it since you can open a render region in the viewport?
What's the meaning of viewport anymore. You can select objects in it?

Re: Raytraced based viewports coming?
he doesn't know what he's talking about. these announcements are about GPU accelerated NVIDIA RTX ray tracing in the viewport, not having a quick software render preview.
