Re: RCTools 4.3

Yes, thanks a million for this tool! And yes, it REALLY should be integrated. Can't work without it now!

Re: Observations of a New User - Modeling in SI

I am not certain about the kind of revolve your after, but the possible effects of the "Transform" tab in the Extrude Op are often overlooked. True, but it's awkward in many situations especially trying to wrap around a specific axis. If they could just add that nice little tab to the rev...

Re: Fire in 3Delight...

I tried it a bit but I don't think the volume shape tools are any different. I did notice that algorithmic textures aren't behaving like expected but didn't investigate further yet. Did you take a look at the tutorials here: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/item?linkID=12544118&id=15505585&a...

Observations of a New User - Modeling in SI

I'm hoping the SI development team will consider listening to a relatively new user, after all, new users are needed to grow the user base :) Although I love SI in general It seems to me that modeling is a rather neglected area in SI. The more I use it the more I dislike it. This seems odd to me as ...

Re: 3delight for Softimage 3.0 beta

Works fine here with no crashes. I'm on 2011 SAP 64bit on Vista. I don't have many other plugins and no other license managers so maybe that has something to do with it.

Re: ICE Particle Volume Shader and Motion Blur

I FINALLY figured out how to make motion blur work with the particle volume shader. Here's the trick for anyone who might be interested: 1) Cache Particles - this is in the documentation 2) Turn OFF scanline for primary rays! (Raytrace ONLY) - this is what I was missing and doesn't seem to be in the...

Re: Mosquito shooting down V1's

Thanks! It is definitely stylized to look more painted that photo-realistic and gets printed on canvas. It's been a big switch learning SI (from Lightwave) but definitely worth the effort. I've learned a lot on the last two projects so the next one will be that much better :)

Mosquito shooting down V1's

Hi All, Here's a project I just finished in SI. It shows Stuart May in his Mosquito "Flame McGoon" where he shot down 2 V1 bombs in one evening (the first can be seen exploding on the water in the background). I tried aaOceanSuite for the water and quite liked it. Hope you enjoy :) http://...

Exactly. And it's something you wouldn't have to use if you didn't want to but seriously, if you try it you'd wonder why on earth it wasn't done years ago.

Re: Autodesk 3december

It's the right idea but it's not very interactive in that you can't see what's going on. I do use it but I find it awkward. I hope it gets developed a bit more.

Cloud Computing Recommendations for SI?

Can anyone recommend a good remote rendering service that supports SI scenes and Mental Ray and is easy to work with for a reasonable price?

I may need this in the near future. Thanks for any tips!
