Re: lens shaders vanyshing
in my case it is really not there, not only disconnected. this is happening in 2012 also, so I guess while it might be related to disconnected shaders it is not exactly the same bug, since that was supposed to be fixed in this latest version.

Re: progressive rendering in xsi2012, still not there?
use Architetural instead of mia_material. It is actually the same shader under the hood, but with a humanly readable interface ;)
good luck

lens shaders vanyshing
lens shaders connected to the camera just vannish... while lens shaders connected to passes are ok.
it is not a disconection, but a complete deletion of the node.
"works" in both 2011 and 2012, anybody else gets that?

Re: unified sampling 2012
hi guys. I'm trying to figure unified sampling out. first of all one must say the docs let you down. it is promissed to be better then the old sampling but if you only follow the docs by the letter it always seems to be slower and dumber then the old adaptive sampling. here are some things I have fi...

Lagoa Soft-body (but not so soft)
Hi guys, I am trying some stuff in Lagoa and found something I just can't get around. Is it possible to achieve a soft-body effect that is almost rigid (think of a tomato)? I can get a jello effect easily by solving pressure and elasticity, but having elasticity or any of it's parameters (besides br...

Thanks Luc I think that really clarifys the subject. Bell, I do think you guys are doing a good job with comunication. I do think right now the perception of the user base is a lot better then it was post aquisition, and is in fact a good perception. The nice releases that you guys have being puting...

Re: what the hell?
sorry Hizari. I do feel like Softimage has evolved a lot under Autodesk, that is true.
I just got a little upset about that quotation coming from an AD person.

“We’re expanding the Maya pipeline with Softimage technology,” he says. “It’s the Softimage team that are working on Project Skyline. We chose Maya because it’s the most flexible, but you can have a Max pipeline and use Skyline.” http://www.3dworldmag.com/2011/03/04/autodesks-marc-petit-talks-to-3d-...

Re: Softimage 2012
I guess people that work at SI know they can't expect much from MR, that is why we porbably have seen lots of updates in the SDK. So other companys can deliver what mental images just can't, despite the gazilions of dollars they might be getting with every maya, max, si license.

I didn't needed such a sofisticated tool for that really, but I was really impressed with what Kristinka can do, and how nice it is to set up. Thanks for the great tool Matkovic!!

plus... although I really like the overall modeling workflow in xsi, max's polyboost just makes things feel so unfair on the modeling side...

Re: Observations of a New User - Modeling in SI
interactive thickness is ok... but there should be a REAL solution, that could solve this problem using only one operator that could be moved all over the construction modes. I'm sure once ICEGeometry is out that will be easy to do. But I don't wan't to whait that long!! That is so simple to do in M...
