Re: Autodesk, Pixar and Open Subdivs

Questions arise from this youtube. First, with no dx11 support how does this even get done in SI? Second, specifically if the tessellation happens at render time don't MR / Arnold / Maxwell / vray etc have to implement this too, or is it only going to be useful if you have a renderman compliant rend...

Re: Autodesk Apps Store for 3ds Max, Maya and others

Not exactly force, but if AD succeed in making a centralised app store that becomes the place to go and users in the future dont feel they need to search around for plugins like they do now, then developers may feel like their plugin may be overlooked if they dont go the app store route. For that t...

Re: File Browser Widget with ZIP files

So you have the 3 options given, or sit and wait it out for a resolution as yet unknown. The route you prefer you choose, but at least I hope I've given you some possibilities that will work, now.

Best of luck.

Re: File Browser Widget with ZIP files

Maybe your both still not 'getting' this. It goes like this.... Windows intercepts it first. Like it was your postal mail, if it sees a zip envelope (like air mail) it (windows) opens it first (like customs), then sends it's on. That intercept is at an OS level (government), apps (you) get it after ...

There were some good ones in there... the others maybe too. You never know you might get want you want, if you post it.

Re: File Browser Widget with ZIP files

You might want to Un-submit it. Realize that Windows 7 has changed it now looks at ZIP files like normal folders viz that's exactly why they can be show in Windows Explorer with out additional applications. See it, Windows explorer the left pane, select a zip file (note the triangle) and how you can...

Re: ICE, sound and MIDI files

Interesting approach, using the piano roll as a texturemap. I wonder how huge that image is!! Thanks for the link to the Houdini ebook.. I'm tempted on buying this, cause I've been interested in this for a while. Since you've been interested for a while you might consider this alternative approach....

Re: Softimage the best Autodesk tool against competition

Very fine data, but you're talking apples and oranges. You simply cannot compare an iOS/Android app to professional software such as Maya, Houdini, Nuke...(basically pick one). The market is different, with a different type of user/consumer, who perhaps don't mind wasting money on an app, because i...

Re: Softimage the best Autodesk tool against competition

Anyways this whole talk of dinosaur, I did not expect to hear that from an actual XSI user. It sounds like you want to use this stuff on an iPad with your finger or throught the web, which is the sort of stuff you hear from people who don't do any actual 3D production and think everything should be...

Re: need better topology

The pinch is created by polygon's triangles that are not on the same plane, i.e there is an angle between the polygon's triangles (i.e the polygon is not completely flat). You can try to fix this by selecting the polygon(s) and scaling the y to zero in local mode for each area where you notice a pi...
