Re: Softimage Wikia Official
Great initiative indeed. Maybe we could also transfer the information on Softimage Blog and XSI Support while at it to have a central repository of useful information and backup. Sort of lesson learned from the fall of XSI Base. I don't know about the stuff on Ed Harris site but there may be some us...

Re: Getting Python Pillow to work with in-built python.
I feel your pain and totally agree. Python compiling on Windows suck big time. Have you tried the solution here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/20596204/installing-pillow-for-python-on-windows Did you try one of the wheel package provided by Christoph Gohlke's here: http://www.lfd.uci.edu/~gohlk...

Re: Autodesk Maintenance prices to increase
@brudney Thanks for the video link. The Podcast speakers have summarised the issue very well: the condescending offer add no real value to maintenance/subscription users, it will cost more over time, you will loose your perpetual license for a trade-in rental which will stop if you no longer pay for...

Re: Any way to import STL?
If you know somebody that can script, you can use python and/or some existing libraries such as numpy-stl, the python stl library, PyMesh or OpenMesh to import natively to Softimage.
Do you import in ascii or binary normally?

Re: Autodesk Maintenance prices to increase
You make good points as well Rez007 I decided not to throw all my eggs in one basket, so to speak. Houdini Indie is a good fit for me at the moment and I have enough left to invest in Zbrush and/or RedShift. Playing with 4R8 at the moment, waiting for the upcoming Z5 to buy. H16 has brought new tool...

Re: Autodesk Maintenance prices to increase
But to also create bad publicity isn't a good idea And that is probably the biggest weakness of AD. Their actions does not match their words. They keep changing the goal post. And Now, for Something Completely Different: It's a gooooal ... Nope, it's five feet short, too bad. I have a solution for ...

Re: Autodesk Maintenance prices to increase
rent-only authoring software was less of a big deal in CAD Partially true, there is also the aspect of manufacturing and highly specialised equipment where a change in software can have a very costly impact in that sector of the industry. Many manufacturers require stable software platforms and hat...

Re: Autodesk Maintenance prices to increase
I don't understand what is the point of article Daniel Brassard posted. For a start it doesn't even consider ownership. The point of the article is to provide another point of view and/or perspective to the conversation. It follows older articles by the author on that subject (click on the Autodesk...

Re: Autodesk CEO and President Carl Bass steps down
A write up reaction to AD move:

make you think.
P.S. This is getting OT, can we separate the thread by extracting the subscription issue into another thread?
Thanks Admin

Re: Autodesk CEO and President Carl Bass steps down
What used to be service packs is no longer the case in Maya as they changed the name to "Updates". Maya 2017 is buggy and unstable and AD should be providing bugs fixes at no cost. But because of the renaming, its not the case. 3DS Max, in the other hand get it right for once. AD should re...

Re: Houdini training courses?
I am considering moving to Houdini Indie as well. I found myself less and less using Soft / Maya and more traditional (painting & photography) or coding & procedural lately. I did not renew my AD subscription also. The AD experience left a bad taste and I am looking for a more positive atmos...
