Re: Warning about Vimeo for those that make tutorials

It turns out it was internal confusion at Vimeo. " We had a bit of an internal miscommunication with regard to this. Sorry for the confusion! Product tutorials do require a PRO account, when they are being used to promote the sale of the product. Regular “How to” videos where dedicated users sh...

Re: Warning about Vimeo for those that make tutorials

I agree. I've written to Vimeo asking they clarify this on their rules. However, Peter apparently didn't just misinterpret the rules and jump to a conclusion. He was contacted by Vimeo directly and told he was in breach of them, so either something about his tutorials WAS in breach of the rules (whi...

Re: Warning about Vimeo for those that make tutorials

This is the reply I got..... Sorry for any confusion! The only content that really requires a PRO account would be videos used for commercial gain. So if you’re selling access to these tutorial videos, then you’ll need a PRO account for sure and that has always been the case. But if you’re making tu...

Re: Warning about Vimeo for those that make tutorials

I can't believe this is REALLY the case.. If thats true, you could argue that 'how to use a camera' tutorials would be promoting NIKON or CANON, and yet they are always encouraging that kind of stuff. I've written them an Email asking them to clear it all up. I would have thought the idea is to stop...

Re: Fabric tutorials thread

I'd like to understand how the equivalent of 'Execute' works in Fabric.

In ICE, I'm thinking almost in terms of lines of Code with an exectute at the end, where I Do this, Do that, then Set the variables, then go on to the next bit.

Canvas however appears to be one long stream.

Thats ok. Sorry I didn't label anything, but its not too complex and should be easy enough to pick apart.

Re: Fabric tutorials thread

Thanks very much. I'm absorbing these with interest and looking forward to the locations one.

It would be great to cover how to visualise stuff too. I find that invaluable in ICE.

Re: Fabric tutorials thread

Thiagos ICE training was superb, because it explained the concepts of why as well as how. For a newcomer to the idea of making your own tools, as I was, he did a fantastic job of explaining say, vectors in a way which caused me to no longer think of them as opaque mathematical concepts, but useful b...

Re: Fabric tutorials thread

It's my understanding that unless you want to hardcode it into a node with KL using PEX funtions, then all the "per point" stuff Has no canvas nodal equivalent just yet. However, I'm so used to the execute ports and the get/set data workflow. It would be great to have a few example based t...

Re: How to filter locations?

I did one of these, but I didn't use neighbours, I just stored a location that was along the correct direction and compared its distance as the mesh stretched.
This way you're not evaluating larger arrays and dropping redundant values, you're just placing the one (or two) you intend to use.

Re: Getting Started with Fabric Engine

I think tutorials (when they start getting into the nuts and bolts) would be most helpful if they explain the actual concepts of 3D in an interesting way. What really made me understand ICE was Thiago Costas tutorials, because it explained in a practical and down to earth way, what vectors are. What...

Re: simple loop in canvas

Its answered there by Borja, but I spoke to Paul Doyle a while ago, who also mentioned that its on the to-do list. Its a bit of a roadblock for me at the moment. I was a bit disappointed to find its not there yet, but I'm confident that it'll come and that it'll be more flexible than ICE when it doe...
