Re: Softimage to Bforartists

Well, last screenshot is looking like Maya :) default. For that horizontal or vertical, icon or text, docked or floating window, IMO that should be choice of user, as well as ability to add buttons to custom toolbar in easy way, by drag-dropping or some RMB involved procedure. Max is able to do all ...

Re: Animate with expression

Once you're in expression editor, just choose the noise function from menu (function > random or something like, I'm not in front of SI now). It should create something like noise ( <x>, <y>, <z> ) You should replace <x> (and <y> and <z>), by any value that changes over time. Some practice was Fc , ...

Re: Naming multiple objects

You should search for ET Naming, ET renamer or like (ET = Eric Thivierge), perhaps here in resources, first. I'm pretty sure it had prefix/suffix options.

Re: ICE running on the GPU

Well, one day when UE will decide to create a complete DCC app, probably there will be some artist to try. For now, things like UE ART rig for Maya, it's just a standard... crap, not innovative in any way, while complete DCC by UE is not even mentioned. Also, that endless sequence of hardware render...

Re: Dual Quaternion rig scale

I'm admitting my defeat. Anyway scaling seems to be inverse, perhaps some input is just not evaluated, while I have no idea what doesn't work as expected.

Re: Dual Quaternion rig scale

I have everything setup the way you describe. Except for the reference pose of enveloped mesh. I do not see a port available for connecting a duplicated mesh as reference pose. I meant 'bind pose' of mesh at moment of creating envelope, at scale 1, rotation 0, and translation 0. So, not any copy or...

Re: Dual Quaternion rig scale

As far as I remember, requirement for one I've posted at least, was a reference pose of enveloped mesh at world origin (position and rotation is zero, scale 1, when SI envelope was created), also 1:1 matching of envelope deformers and group connected to ICE compound (in case you're unsure, run 'sele...

Re: Blender 2.80 to arrive in 2018

Sorry to hijack here guys but how do you get into blender with the 3d cursor thing ? how do you move the cursor to something not selected ??? just like on soft where you move the temporal pivot when modeling I'm just not 'getting' the cursor thing, have no any cursor related shortcut, only way here...

Re: Blender 2.80 to arrive in 2018

@Mathaeus: I want to encourage you to create an account at the BA forums and to tell this to Jaques in the AN thread, it probably would increase the chances of your feature request being implemented ;) Well I do have account on BA since 2004, it was Elsyiun or something in old days and Ton wasn't b...

Re: Blender 2.80 to arrive in 2018

From Blender artist thread 'By the end of the week, Jaques will provide some An 2.1 compiled builds'. If I'm correct, that means new 3d noise node like ICE turbulence, for now there's 1d noise in 'wigglers'. For my taste, for now AN needs Group nodes (that is, compounds...), to make it possible for ...

Re: Blender 2.80 to arrive in 2018

@Mathaeus: Thanx for the Blender scene, although I don't understand anything of what you did there o.O There is around 30% nodes more than in typical ICE/Houdini setup, not all AN nodes are 'vectorized' yet, had to workaround this by longer node chains. Otherwise is re-mapping of relative xyz posit...

Re: Blender 2.80 to arrive in 2018

For that 200-2000 category in real time, already have Maya, all (seven) GPU accelerated Maya deformers are included in Maya LT as well. Don't believe that Blender people will get *that* speed, ever. Anyway for now, huge advantage of AN against Maya or something like, is unbelievable quick and easy s...

Re: Blender 2.80 to arrive in 2018

https://vimeo.com/260625557 Just wanted to share a list night setup created in Animation Nodes, pretty much in ICE style. For basic info, Animation Nodes addon for Blender is ' a node based visual scripting system designed for motion graphics in Blender '. Version 2 introduced 'vectorization' of no...

Re: Blender 2.80 to arrive in 2018

- Modeling tools are nice, but are prone to 'lost geometry', e.g. one can easily extrude edges and points without closing them back into the geometry as faces. Lightwave had/has that same 'feature', often resulting in bad models and issues with exporting/importing. A bit of nit picking... Houdini w...

Re: Blender 2.80 to arrive in 2018

With inevitable 'don't want to be negative' disclaimer, fact that they are thinking about SI developers to help in Blender GUI, now in 2018 ..., sounds that they are out of ideas, or they don't know what to do, or it's just a 'political' act in getting some SI users. No good, anyway. About GUI, yeah...

Re: Positioning help with symmetry

Long time ago it was a tutorial about editing the SI Symmetry Mapping Template in Excel or (maybe) another app with tables, basically it was a selecting everything in SI editor, copy-paste in Excel, going back in same way. As far as I know, SI Symmetry mapping template is generated from positions of...
