In my little studio Softimage and Houdini are preparing for a very long AD-free companionship.

Re: A part of Softimage transposed to Houdini
Well, Solidangle did it ! just like that, the shading workflow of softimage transposed to Houdini, it's all here light shaders, environment shaders, material shaders, custom Framebuffers ! https://support.solidangle.com/display/AFHUG/Shaders Actually, the shading workflow in houdini is very similar...

Re: Houdini Indie Teaser
Give it some time .... I do like reading your assumptions. :-) Of course your logic should equally apply to other vendors. Well, at least I wasn't very surprised by the events earlier this year... But of course, this logic applies to the whole industry, that's why I hope sidefx knows what they are ...

Re: Houdini Indie Teaser
@pcd - just a point of note, reading some previous posts, I think you're getting confused on MayaLT. Comparing MayaLT to this new Houdini offering doesn't really work because MayaLT is aimed at indie games developers only . This is why features such as particles, dynamics and some rendering are not...

Re: Houdini Indie Teaser
The annual gross revenue of commercial entities and contracting entities does not exceed $100K USD. wow! if you have three seats and can't make 100k.. you're an indie in the sense of working on one indy film or mobile startup. not a small/freelance studio. you can't pay your employees. I would end ...

Re: Houdini Indie Teaser
Well, to me it's a FANTASTIC deal. I am not sure though if i get all the updates with Indie(like you do when you buy full license) so i wait until they release 14 so i can have that in my pocket. I started to learn a bit few months ago and i am very impressed with the software. As with all other so...

Beware! Your data is not save with Autodesk!
OK, here's the story. Sometime ago I found some discrepancies in my user data in may subscription center. I wrote about it somewhere here. It turned out, that AD made several mistakes when transferring my old sub to the new after renewal. From that day on there was nothing but trouble. It took over ...

Re: Softimage 2015 released
how do you know that? The package date of the installer archive. it's like that for every autodesk product, the golds were made two months ago Instead of extensive testing, yes we know ;) And even so it doesn't seem to be possible to provide the download at release time in the subscription center...

Re: Coping with the "depression"
Actually, now that we do not have to speculate anymore what will happen to SI I for one feel a lot better. I mean what has actually changed? We are using SI without signification changes or development for years now. The only difference is: we don't have to pay for it anymore. There is however still...

Re: Roadster for Softimage
So maybe it is time to think about alternative ways to keep 3rd party development alive, because the more tools like this emerge the longer SI will live. I agree that that time has come: thinking about ways to keep 3rd party developers active in ways that truly help the user base, motivating them t...

Re: Roadster for Softimage
Well, unless community support for 3rd party development picks up significantly, I'm afraid the prophecy about the disappearance of new 3rd party developers might, unfortunately, come true. So maybe it is time to think about alternative ways to keep 3rd party development alive, because the more too...
