Re: Softimage EOL articles
Let's face it, our user base is too small. If Autodesk would decide to end 3ds Max, there would be a revolution in its user base, and the noise would have stayed on the front page of the CG printed press and websites for months or even years, with multiple regular articles. Softimage... few people u...

Re: Revolutionary Dreamworks animation software
Ah Thanks Mauricio! It looks really amazing! But as far as what I can see in this video, I'm sure animators need control objects sometimes, so I guess it's possible to make them visible, switch them visible and invisible. But what's great is the speed of interaction with the 3d scene and the 3d char...

Re: Caterpillar Shoes
Very impressive! Can't wait to see the final result! I love when he says "miam" at the begining!! The begining of the movie is outstanding, I was wondering if it was all CG! One critic: in some shots, the 3D and photo mix is well done, but in other shots, it needs to be reworked. Keep up t...

Re: Several beginner rigging questions
Hello Ande, Eric is right, with parent nulls that can zero out the rig object's transforms (buffer nulls), there is less need for a reset animation mixer source, as you can select all control objects then reset transforms. However, myself I always add this reset clip sources. First I set it on the s...

Re: Having a controls setup to work like Rotate Global?
You could have a parent null and the rig controller being the child of this parent. Then force the parent null to stay synchronized with the world's rotation axis, by expressions. But the question is: why do you want global rotation axis on a control object? In XSi everything works better with local...

I'm starting to roam the Houdini forums but I still feel part of the Softimage family. My avatar on the Houdini forum is a Softimage flag.

Re: Several beginner rigging questions
I would add: it's always better to store a neutral pose animation clip for when things get screwed up. Select all control objects then store.

Thanks for the answers!
I'll hope you'll find a way to scatter these stones using ICE!
Sorry for the following basic questions
Do you use the default fog Inside Softimage?
How do you create the halo of light in the background?
What's the advantage of Sketchbook over Photoshop?

I'm more and more found of it! It really has a fairy tale feel! The quality is second to none. Wow. =p~ I want to learn all your secrets!! How did you do it! So first questions: - Why is it grainy? - Is the scatering of the grass still with the scatter tool or forester? - Trees are procedural? You m...
