Re: Can Ice produce MeshFusion?
I'm using the Gigaboolean node from Momentum 4 and the combinations of unions and subtractions work well. Even if you alter each object's mesh density after the boolean operations. The node creates a good boolean but the biggest problem I'm trying to figure out is how MeshFusion ends up with such sm...

Can Ice produce MeshFusion?
All, With all the turmoil about Softimage EOL like everyone else I've been assessing my options. For now I've taken the Maya package - it was free, so why not. Long term I'm looking at Modo as a possible purchase and this is when I started watching the MeshFusion movies. It looks really interesting ...

Re: NURBS improvements petition
All, I've been following the progress of this petition and I'm slightly saddened to see that the addition of names has slowed considerably in the last month or so. I think this a good idea and was keenly looking to see how it would develop. From the current count the petition needs another 40 names ...

Re: Capabilities that might improve Softimage in the market
All,
I think this has been mentioned in many other places, but here goes:
1. Update the FXTree and build in ICE capabilities;
2. Nurbs toolset or access to T-splines;
3. (not really capabilities) More lectures/tutorials from the Autodesk University.
Best Regards,
Alan

Re: Selectin start frame for ICE Simulation
All, I've been trying just about everything and nothing seems to work. The lagoa sim has cached out file for 1-500 frames. If I place this in a cached pointcloud it displays properly. Now I want to take frame 500 sim file and use this as the starting point of an extended simulations. How do I get So...

Re: Selectin start frame for ICE Simulation
All, I'm now having an issue with the simulation itself. It will not generte any particles above frame 500. At frame 501 all existing particle vanish and no new ones are generated. I've checked the simulation environment which shows 1 to 1000 frames to be simulated. Any assistance would be grately a...

Re: Selectin start frame for ICE Simulation
Steve, Thanks for the reply. Is the Simulation Environment the same as the Simulation tab in the Cache Manager? If so, I have already set the off-set to 500 so the first frame simulated in the re-start will be 501. Also, I think the potential problem I'm having is in the file naming convention for t...

Selectin start frame for ICE Simulation
Hi all, I have a lagoa sim that is 500 frames long. I extended it to 1,000 frames once I was happy with the way the sim developed. However, I must have hit the max particle setting as from frame 501 there are no particles - they disappear from frames 501 to 1,000. I increased the max particle level ...

Re: "Autodesk shifts design apps to the cloud"
autodesk is planning things in a way that would allow their thing to work on the Autodesk cloud, and also on private clouds. Luceric, Excuse my ignorance here but are you suggesting for client senstive activites that Autodesk would offer private cloud solutions? If so, would this be on Autodesk har...

Re: "Autodesk shifts design apps to the cloud"
All, I've been following the cloud computing debate on this and other forums. One thing that hasn't been discussed much so far is the subject of data security. Its all well and good companies offering cloud computing for productivity enhancements or whatever but placing client data on a server that ...

Re: Softimage Ueber Tage 2010 Videos
Rez007, Thanks for your comments. I have actually thought about installing 3Delight, but I'm not sure of having to learn renderman shaders, etc. I still would like to have transparent and reflective materials, so my understanding is that its not the best for this type of work. However, I may be wron...

"...So be patient and just wait..."
Okay, but for how long?! You have to agree, that its been ages since the lucky ones have been showing examples of their renders.
Anyway, do you know who I should contact to get onto the Vray beta? I agree alternatives are good.
Regards,
Alan

Re: Softimage Ueber Tage 2010 Videos
I would ask anyway. You never know! What frustrated me is that more and more people within the community seem to be getting access to it, but its obviously not purely a commercial decision. I'm not sure how much it will cost, although I do recall somewhere it being mentioned that it would cost less ...

Re: Softimage Ueber Tage 2010 Videos
I have asked to buy a license and they said it wasn't available. It was indicated that something would happen this year. So, it seems that at the current time you need to be a company, buying multiple licenses, in order to gain access to it. To be honest, I'm starting to get a bit cheezed off with a...

Re: Autodesk Softimage Advanced Modeling Techniques
Hi all, This training looks interesting but I do have a growing problem with cmiVFX. I already have purchased training with them and I cannot get access to it because they are undergoing some serious changes to their website. This should be okay, but for some reason my password doesn't work, I ask f...

Re: FX Tree - The Future?
Do you think a poll would be a good idea to help demonstrate to Autodesk that the fxtree is something Softimage users want, and want developed?
If we just accept Autodesk Composite (not saying its bad), then that is what we will get.
Regards,
Alan
