Lots of crashing all of a sudden.
Hi, I've re-installed windows to the latest win10 build and update drivers etc. and suddenly XSI has started locking up a lot when opening windows like the rendertree or image nodes. I have no idea how to start narrowing down the issue and was wondering if anyone else has been having these issues? N...

Re: Blender Render Management
Thank you. I've had a look at collections and they seem look at doing basically partitions without more than very basic overrides (ray visibility/etc.), what I'm a bit unsure about is doing things like having an animation and some high res stills configured in the same file. Or a bunch of stills wit...

Blender Render Management
Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone who has jumped to Blender can recommend an addon that brings a functionality somewhat similar to render passes? I saw there were a whole bunch available on the market place. From what I can see in-built render management is somewhat basic?
Thank you,
Fabian

Re: HDRI Light Studio for Softimage
I can also confirm that the moment I installed the plugin it causes Softimage 2015 SP2 to crash on exit.

Re: Getting Python Pillow to work with in-built python.
Yes, I even tried all the older still available versions. Managed to get 1.7.8 compiled but without the dependencies so it's not very useful. This would take no time on Linux but getting this working on Windows is just painful. Digging through MS websites to find old compilers and SDK that then don'...

Re: XSI to Fusion - Camera orientation wrong in FBX import
Haven't played with fusion but maybe something to do with Y-Up vs. Z-Up if Fusion thinks the files comes from max. Or check the order of rotation in the kinematics local transform? Otherwise try plotting the camera motion in xsi first, might be you have a constraint on the camera and that isn't expo...

Getting Python Pillow to work with in-built python.
Hi, I've gotten Pillow installed via pip and all is fine except the _imaging module refuses to load. I assume it is some sort of binary incompatibility. Any advice to narrow down the problem. Other parts of Pillow that are not dependent on a binary module import just fine. I have a lot of VS redist ...

AddCallbackItem menu item, how to pass a variable
Hi, is there a way to pass a string from the menu item to the callback handler function. For dynamically created menu items I'd like to attach some information (directory path) that is passed from the menu item to the callback function. I've tried to abose the help string for this but for some reaso...

Re: Emitter name from EmitLocation
I did place them non-simulated first without realizing the motion blur consequences. Now I'm using states to switch between a flow along curve and stopping. Looks like I'll need to set up a point cloud per curve. Ugly solution but I'm out of time. Would still like to know if there is a way to get th...

Emitter name from EmitLocation
Hi, I've got an "Emit From Curve" with a bunch of curves and is there a way to get the emitter geometry name from the "EmitLocation" in order to feed that into a "Normalized U to Curve Location" in order to manually move/stop the particles along the curve on which they ...

Ah, I missed that one. Thank you, if it scales well it might just fit the bill.
Thank you,

Mesh displacement and adaptive subdivision based on bitmap
Hi,
does anyone know a program/feature that given a bitmap image can generate displaced geometry and that is a bit smart about generating as little geometry as needed. Basically something like what a reyes renderer does, only outside the renderer.
Thank you,
Fabian
