Re: Fabric Engine EOL
I've been meaning to post this for a while but forgot... https://www.engadget.com/apple-reality-pro-headset-ar-apps-development-171437870.html The AR creation tool is said to be based on technology from Fabric Software, a Canadian company Apple quietly bought in 2017. The acquired startup's Fabric E...

I know I know. Since I never owned I can't. Getting back into Houdini as it's the next best thing I guess.

Re: Great work done with Softimage
There's also ALOT of XSI in Glasswork's latest showreel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGjJeNomE4w If I could make a suggestion to the parent company (like a message in a bottle), I would suggest ... maybe not to "open source" XSI ... but to "mudbox it" Honestly if they mudbox ...

Re: What are you working on?
I'm working in Production now for VFX. Because of the writer strike, things are weird in Canada/US right now. I haven't done actual 3D since the EoL of Softimage. Started to get my feet wet with Modo again.

Yeah ... I missed the opportunity of buying it. Never found a legit license on eBay or whatever. And of course AD never made that non-commercial or available again.

Wow this is beautiful. This is the best thread. Only in a while I go through it again to get the wow face on all the amazing work done with Softimage.

Re: Nice to be using Softimage again. But where is everyone now?
Nice to see people still using Softimage and around here. I myself haven't been doing 3D for a few years now. After the EOL I kind of lost interest, specially since I was on the student version and never really committed to buying the full version of Softimage at the time. I thought I had more time....

Boa noite!
Yeah ... the indie is a good deal. I was hoping Maxon would offer something like that but given the Maxon One thing, I don’t think it’ll happen.

Re: Cinema 4D R23
Where do you live? Here in Brazil Max Indie now is $200/year which is quite cheap.
For the price of a Modo subscription I can rent Max, Maya, Houdini Indie and I still have money to buy a used 1080.
So I dropped Modo and am software orphan at the moment.

Definitely. A shame at the time I didn’t had any money. And when I was living in the UK I did look to see if I could find a used license to buy but none to be found. :/

Re: Post XSI thoughts
With Indie coming out, I might look into Max again with TyFlow (multithreaded PFlow). And I find Blender cool, but I don't like it's workflow yet. WIsh I could still use Softimage ... but for now I'm stuck in Modo which is also stuck in time!

I would prefer Softimage Indie. Can't they make it happen?

You need to be in English speaking countries at the moment and be under 100k year. But it`s the full version for 1-year, so it's fair.
