Re: Where can you still buy Softimage?

Hi Can you legally purchase softimage from another user and also anyone know if there is a board or place for people interested in purchasing? Autodesk doesn't allow it in US but in Europe the law says you can't do that. So if you're located in Europe and can find someone willing to sell you're in ...

Re: Where can you still buy Softimage?

Damn, if only we could scrap Max from there (and it's price tag) it would actually be a good fit. We are most likely switching to Maya when ever we stop using Softimage, and it would be nice to have a copy to start planning how to move our pipeline there. I found one store still selling Softimage: h...

Where can you still buy Softimage?

Hi.

My studio is hiring a new animator and we don't have enough licenses.
As you know, Autodesk doesn't sell it anymore, so where could we find one?

Preferably SI 2013, because that's what the rest of us have, but 2014 or 2015 would probably work just as well.

Re: HLE in non-classic mode

Thanks, but right mouse click still does something different than what I'm used to and some of the icons are different. I guess I could try to change my work flow, and force myself using classic mode, but it would be hard and doing that just for a bit easier access to HLE doesn't seem to justify. ED...

HLE in non-classic mode

Hi guys. Anyone know if there is a tool like HLE in the non-classic mode of animation editor? I work almost exclusively with the classic mode turned off, and only use the HLE (High Level Editing) in classic mode. It's annoying to have to switch to classic mode every time I want to use HLE. Does anyb...

Re: Gear Mc mirroring guide position?

Yes. It has worked perfectly fine for me.
I think a coder at work once said that a character's arms didn't have completely symmetric values, so I'm not sure what GEAR does exactly to achieve the symmetry, but in practice it works just like you'd want it to work.

Re: Gear Mc mirroring guide position?

I always just delete the other side and hit duplicate symmetry after I change something.

Re: Help with rigging a shoulder bag to a body

I would probably just make a few bones that control the strap and parent them to the closest spine bones... BUT now that I think of it. One way that just came to mind that might be fun to try: -Make a spline in the shape of the strap and weight that similarly as the character (just select the spline...

Inspecting FBX export

Hi.

I'm trying to export lots of animation to our game engine but with some animations the exporting takes a huge amount of time and I would like to know what's causing this.

So does anyone know if SI makes a export log somewhere or something like that?

Re: Having a controls setup to work like Rotate Global?

But the question is: why do you want global rotation axis on a control object? In XSi everything works better with local transformations. To avoid gimbal lock? I just woke up and only tried this really quickly but it seems like it could work if you don't parent the object under the controllers but ...

Re: Ormr Image Editor - Public Beta

(With Wacom and QT still always saying it's because of the other.) Same thing with ZBrush and 3dConnexion. No drivers after years and years of pointing fingers (well one experimental one that I hear doesn't work very well). Hate when that happens. I haven't had time to try Ormr myself yet but my te...

I also have had animation in global transforms, that causes some strange things to happen.

Re: Ormr Image Editor - Public Beta

This seems really interesting. I linked it to one of our texture artists because he has been looking for a replacement for PS for quite some time. He loves layer effects and the lack of those has been an instant deal breaker for him with the past photoshop-replacers. This one seems to have those and...

Re: Gear desappeared...

First things that come to mind:

-Check if python works at all (go to script editor and see if python is listed in the drop down menu).
-Check File>Plug-in Manager if GEAR is installed.

GEAR is free and awesome.
I use GEAR for everything.
I'm sure Species will do great job with ninja turtles though.

Re: Softimage EOL articles

I work in a game company, and we just switched to Softimage (from Lightwave) something like a year ago. We knew coming in that Sofimage was on shaky ground but we figured that SI2013 pretty much had everything we needed for our animation and rigging purposes. So Softimage retiring didn't have much e...
