Re: LK Fabric from Leonard Koch
Maybe I'm doing something wrong but the second Pattern curve doesn't seem to do anything. - I create the default setup on a grid surface - I edit the points of the first curve and both the U and V directions of the thread changes appearance - I edit the second curve and nothing happens I noticed in ...

Re: LK Fabric from Leonard Koch
Huge thanks for this awesome tool! And very gracious of Royale to make it available
If it weren't for guys like you creating all these tools and adding so much more value to SI, I too would share in the doom and gloom of its future. So a big thanks for that as well!

Re: Adobe jump in the cloud
=)) Corel just increased their coolness factor by 10x in my book. It would make a lot of sense for Adobe now to change their rules so after say 2-3 years of subscription, the version that was out when you started subscribing will not stop functioning if you stop your subscription. In any case, maybe...

Re: Adobe jump in the cloud
+1 - I had written a long response but it was a bit aggressive. I didn't appreciate being patted on the head "one day you'll grow up and become a faceless corporation too". We started Fabric specifically because we wanted to work in a way we know can work - even at scale. I'm sorry what I...

Re: Adobe jump in the cloud
On a positive note, and I like the way people are for the first time looking at alternatives, it might mean a return to the golden days of software engineering, were developers listen, act and develop what a "cross-section" of customers want. Two good examples of that would be Fabric-Engi...

Re: Adobe jump in the cloud
While at the very least it feels...uncomfortable the number of companies and applications Autodesk and Adobe have swallowed up in recent time, I wonder if this move is really such a bad thing. I don't see how this makes such a huge change for you as a professional in terms of running costs, while fo...

Re: small annoying things
For question 1, it says in the Facerobot manual: Tip If you close Softimage with Face Robot mode enabled, this mode is automatically enabled the next time you open the Softimage. Make sure to disable Face Robot mode before exiting Softimage if it's not the typical mode you want to use. See below for...

Oh, then you really aren't going to like this, but I heard from reliable sources that SideFX has been bought by Autodesk, apparently they plan to announce it 1st of April.nourvfx wrote: maya+3dsmax+softimage+C4D+belender+lightwave+fume fx+real flow+naiad=houdini

Re: offical features for softimage 2014 & we have a NEW logo
According to my weather app, the sky is *NOT* falling today where I am. Hope it's the same for everyone else.... The new site looks very nice, fresh and graphics are well used. The origami works great for the Autodesk logo, but too crowded for the others. Max logo looks like the Maya one but turned ...

Re: Create extrusion along strands - Knit the strand
Yes, the Melena extrusion operator works great, just I wanted to begin to understand the whole thing better. Also with the built in extrusion compound you can get UVs, as far as I can see it's not possible with the Melena operator? I think author mentioned special option for removing the point posit...

Re: Create extrusion along strands - Knit the strand
Thanks for the pointers. Looking at that tree scene, I'm wondering a few things: One pointcloud is to generate strands One pointcloud is to read form the previous pointcloud the number of points and add points on those positions and set the strands positions. It seems I have to generate strands twic...

Re: Create extrusion along strands - Knit the strand
I rendered it, and I think that compound is supposed to go into an empty polygon mesh and it sets the topology right?

Create extrusion along strands - Knit the strand
My knowledge on strands is pretty limited but trying to learn...I've read the posts about Knit the Strand and the post about v2 of the Create Extrusion along strands, but no clear info on what to do to make these two work together. All I get is this: http://i.minus.com/ipM5Uzo9CXbgv.jpg Asking kindl...

I would say a few weeks, at least not until the end of July, mostly because it's holiday season and a few people are away.....
