Crowd FX rig rescale help

Hi Folks,
Can any one tell me how to re scale parts of the Crowd FX rig with out entirely messing things up. I would like to use my own mesh and re scale the existing Crowd rig to suit, but I keep getting really weird results when I try enveloping parts of the mesh. I am trying to do a robot with separate limbs. How can I do this with Crowd fx ? Is it even possible ? There must be some one who knows .... Please....Help

In case any one else is trying to do the same thing ...
I finally managed to get some where by using the motion builder rig model (in the XSI SAMPLES models folder)
I merged the meshes keeping all of the clusters etc and colours.
I selected the components of the clusters, selected adjacent points and then set envelopes to the motion builder rig which I had managed to re shape quite easily with no dire consequences like I was getting with other set ups.
