GEAR weight editor problem

hello im using GEAR to rig a gorilla.
whenever i pick a deformer from the list softimage crashes.
if i pick from vertex it works fine
strange ey?

It might be worth trying out some of the other menu options gear comes with - you can rebuild your envelope, or prune weights, both of which could help.
