Help with Envelope painting

hi guys, im new to this forum and kinda new to Softimage also.

I was hoping you guys could help me with this issue:

while trying to paint weights, the brush mirror to the other side of the mesh, like in the image attached, is there anyway to stop that from happening?

Never experienced that.. Do you have symmetry activated or something?
