Here is a simple compound that I have been playing with last few days. I hope that someone will find it interesting.
It creates evenly distributed particles along each axis inside of a geometry volume. It can use object texture or have its own color. Objects must have a texture map property created for texture to work.
I tried using it on some character models and I got interesting results. On animated characters it seams to be a little unstable. Sometimes it crashes softimage, sometimes not. Also it slows down down as you start increasing number of particles per axis.
I am not sure if someone already posted something like this, but it was fun to do and it was nice learning experience.
In archive there is compound and a simple test scene. It is a SI 2010 scene.
This is a result of that scene:

Re: createParticlesFromGeometryVolume compound
looks interesting.
I would like to try it...but i do not have SI 2010...only 7.01.
Would you mind sharing the compound by itself?

Re: createParticlesFromGeometryVolume compound
In the archive I uploaded in my first post there is also a compound.
Re: createParticlesFromGeometryVolume compound
It seems that this compound doesn't work under 7.01
Maybe the problem with "repeat with counter" compound?

Re: createParticlesFromGeometryVolume compound
I haven't checked this myself, but I assume the "repeat with counter" probably is the one included in Phil's ICE Pack, which, AFAIK, should work in 7.01 also.
Stay safe, sane & healthy!
Re: createParticlesFromGeometryVolume compound
Yes the "repeat with counter" is used from Phil's pack. I don't have 7.01 around me anywhere so can't test it. I tried it in 7.5 now and it works after I install the Phil's Pack.
