SI 2011 SP1 crashes before open!

Hey everyone!

I've been trying to fix my SI for a few hours now.. I've tried to restart.. reinstall.. 64-bit and 32-bit both don't work.. SI crashes right when it opens. Any ideas? I've got windows 7 64-bit. It loads what it shows in the screenshot.. just the left icons.. right icons.. and that's it..

check out if you have some other shader installed, like t2s illumination shaders, those .dll cause problems with xsi 2011 because it has a recompiled API.
try to remove everything custom, and do a clean install.

Hey all!

I did all that was on that site already and no luck! I did find out though that when I tried to start XSI in safe mode it didn't even open the splash screen but said: "Error: there is no interactive license available to run autodesk softimage 2011

any ideas?

In Safe mode, your licensing service probably was not running.

What happens if you try to run xsibatch? Does that crash too?

I'd use Process Monitor to see what DLLs XSI.exe is loading, in case there is an obvious conflict (like Digital Persona).

xsibatch.exe opens for like 2 seconds and then shuts down. I've tried to see what's running with process monitor but it's a bit confusing.. any ideas? :S

Also.. I don't know about digital persona.. my laptop does have a fingerprint scanner though.. could that be it?

holy munchkins batman! I found the fix here on this page:

turns out i had to kill the process dpagent.exe and i was able to open XSI. Thanks all! I had no idea it was my fingerprint scanner.. any ideas on how I could get the two to play nice together?
