That's pretty awesome! I wonder if those of us on subscription would be eligble for an upgrade to emplygonizer 2?

Wicked.
SI2011.5 is starting to become irresistible...
Lets hope the rendertree/materials problems have been sorted.

I think Autodesk should hire Hirazi as their PR guy for the Softimage communites. Thanks again for posting the information before anyone else!

Re: Luc-Eric: SI2011 SAP will include emPolygonizer 1.721
i'm sorry to hijack this thread but i wanted to ask a quick thing, reading redmotion post..
am i the only one who found working with render tree and softimage 2011 annoying and almost impossible?
Shaders connecting into render tree is becoming unstable like never.. connecting textures in texture viewport mode doesnt make them to show up, its completely random even if you hide/unhide, plug and unplug some textures, hdri, tiff causes softimage to halt and crash..
In a complex scene you hit ctrl+7 for material manager to pop up and xsi halts even with thumbnail off, and textures preview off, loading the shaders is slow like hell..
I dont remember such behaviour in release 7, 7.5, cant remember 2010 or higher, but i'm pretty sure its never been this bad..
Am I the only one with this problem? 2011 was like that, 2011 SP1 is too, wonder whats happening..
Sorry for derailing thread, i just felt i didnt want to open another whining thread just for this :/

Re: Luc-Eric: SI2011 SAP will include emPolygonizer 1.721
First, you should let support know of the issue at hand, which I am sure you already did. Also, There was an issue like this in version 7.5 (If I remember correctly). It happened if you opened an environment shader that had an image in it....Softimage would crash every time. They finally fixed it in an update but it was extremely annoying. Hopefully this is not going down the same road. I have not touched 2011 too much yet, but I hope when I get into a deeper project that this doesn't happen. One of Softimage's strong points was always its stability. I used to be on some BETAs a while back, and I sent lists of things that needed to be fixed - some were not touched... I no longer am a part of BETAs for Softimage, maybe they didn't like the numerous things I reported. Nonetheless, the issue you mentioned about should have been picked up in testing and quality assurance - no excuses for that. I hope it gets fixed soon.

Re: Luc-Eric: SI2011 SAP will include emPolygonizer 1.721
Softimage is in constant beta and none of the beta testers are reporting major instability with rendering.
So 2011 should be stable. However, if the T2S shaders are installed, all hell breaks loose, because they ship with older DLLs of Softimage. There may be issues with an old binary alchemy shader set which uses dupplicates GUIDs and hacked shader DLLs. It has to do with shaders being declared improperly and now breaking in the stricker system. The only known issue not fixed in SP1 that I'm aware is the one where selecting a shader from menu brings up another one. Has to do with spdl and non-spdl shader confusing the preset manager. fixed in the extension release. So all troubleshooting starts with disabling user-installed shaders to narrow down the problem.

It's going to be emPolygonizer 1.721, and then Erik sells newer version with a few more feature and continue to enhance his plug-in. Both factory and updated plug-in can co-exist Lagoa, however, is not going to be purchasable separately.

I imagine it will be shortly after September 1st when the last quarter begins (well an announcement at least).

Re: Luc-Eric: SI2011 SAP will include emPolygonizer 1.721
we're only a few weeks weeks into the current quarter, which started in August. So the next quarter is a little way off yet.
However note that Mark's forum post about the forthcoming Advantage didn't happen until August, so make of that what you will.
Also Mark's post wasn't really an official press release, and thus no release dates were mentioned. The best he could really say was that it will hopefully ship 'in a month or so'.
If I were a betting man, I would look at someone close towards the end of Sept or early Oct. Mainly because the Premium Suites were announced to be hopefully planning to ship on or after Sept 29th.

The extension release will not do everything for every one, however you're lucky for this one : it does indeed implement raytraced soft shadows for infinite light.eternal art wrote:Please Luc-eric ..
