FYI: "Python not a valid Language for layouts anymore"

Yesterday Raffaele Fragapane (AKA "ThE_JacO") started a new thread on the Mailing List concerning missing functionality in Python under SI2011 (in this case concerning Python as a script language in PPG-Layouts). As far as I can gather from the follow-up posts this occurs on machines where NO Python was ever installed, before installing the Python "embedded" in SI2011.
But you'd better read the thread yourself: go there
I guess, this would mean installing Python and Pywin32 "externally" again, making the "embedded" install fairly useless, as it's main benefit was that it freed users new to Python from this "external" install.
But it's probably too soon to jump to any conclusions.
Just wanted to let you all know...

The problem manifests itself with on-the-fly Python properties that set the Logic property.
There's a workaround for that: set PPGLayout.Language to "XSI.SIPython".

There's another way to fix this that doesn't require any code changes or installing Python: you have to add a few registry entries.
