Sixbirds PixelParticle

Post by gotchee » 08 Jul 2010, 18:14

Hey guys,
i need your help. i'm looking for the PixelParticles-addon by Sixbirds. there are two download-links i've found. one of them is posted here as well (http://www.sixbirds.com/development/six ... iaddon.zip) but the folder doesn't exist anymore.
this one actually works and you can download it there: http://www.studionestbarcelona.com/opensource/ (at the end of the page), but the downloaded addon has a problem.
the particle2image-compound doesn't work. which finally leads me to my question:

can anybody, who downloaded the addon when it was released, post the original, working addon anywhere here, or send it via e-mail? i could really use this plugin right now.

thanks in advance for your help and your patience with this way too long post ;)

cheers, gotchee

p.s.: i would need the SI2010SP1 version if possible :)

Try this:
Go to rray.de ("rray to the rescue!!!" )
to where it says "local backup" under the item describing the Addon.
It contains a version 1.4 of the addon for both SI2010SP1 and SI2011
If it works, I cannot really tell you, though...

PS - If that doesn't work either, I'd contact studionest directly...

so i just tested it and unfortunately the archived version of rray.de seems to be the same as the one on studionest.

right, hirazi, to get in contact with them directly is a good idea.
but if anyone else here already downloaded it while it was working, feel free to share ;)

hey guys,
just tried the older version provided by rray and it works just like a charm! :-bd
thanks again for the fast help!

cheers, gotchee

p.s.: i also contacted studionest directly and helge himself replied. and he assumed that the problem with version 1.4 could be a missing c++ distributable on my computer. i'll keep you updated on that!

edit: Removed the explanation and relocated the file from my own attachments to the si-community server. (a very small explanatory text-file is included in the zip-file).

Fix for studioNest PixelParticles 1.4: nestfix.zip

Let's see if studioNEST ever gets around releasing the promised version 1.5
that would actually work "out of the box"... :-?

The file in rray.de's local backup for PixelParticles (nest_pixelparticles.1.5.2011_SP1.xsiaddon) is the last one that was publicly available at StudioNest and that specific version was the corrected one that didn't need any fixing anymore, IIRC. It should still work under 2012 but I haven't tested it yet...

Thanks.. The compound was broken in the newer version too, but I replaced it with the fix here and its ok now.

This plugin is flipping brilliant! I was able to output an image sequence from my 'renderer'. http://www.vimeo.com/20652466

Hello,

Could someone be kind enough to send me the second example scene (b_grid_simulated_01) ?
Or help me set it up ?
I can't understand from the vimeo video how the red particle system is linked and affects the grid particles....
thanks !

Alex.
