Solid Angle ("Arnold") is hiring...

Post by Hirazi Blue » 05 Jul 2010, 18:20

The near-mythical "Arnold" renderer has surfaced again on the Softimage Mailing List as the company that is developing it ("Solid Angle") is looking for two full-time software engineers to work on the Softimage & Maya plug-ins respectively. If anyone's interested: go here
More importantly, for all of you not eligible for the job on offer, it at least seems to show that development must be coming along nicely, as IMO you don't hire plug-in developers while you're still knee-deep in other problems...

So maybe Arnold will one day actually be revealed (to the "few", who aren't in the beta test already)... ;)

My question is, how do people get into the beta testing? They don't even seem to have a web site.. must be one of those "don't call us we'll call you" type of things..

I think they have enough beta testers already.

Well, they do have a website (of sorts) with an email address on it,
that can be used for inquiries: http://solidangle.com/

From what I gather, however, they already have closed admission to the beta programme. On the German Softimage Community I read the following reply to an inquiry for admission to the beta test:
Thanks for your interest. We do have a beta testing and evaluation program but it's getting quite crowded, so at this point we are only accepting applications from CG studios doing vfx and animation for film and commercials. We are hoping to release a trial version by the end of the year.
